On Thursday, September 20, the More than Words Solidarios scheme was finalised, a system that allows citizens to support, free of charge, the social projects Fundación Repsol collaborates on.
Participants could show their solidarity for a specific social project by voting for it, and Fundación Repsol would donate € 1 for each vote, up to € 10,000.
This year, a total of 5,050 votes were received, and the distribution of aid was broken down as follows:
· ABAO (Asociación Bilbaína de Amigos de la Ópera) received € 2,322 through the “Opera and More” programme, which takes opera to nephrology, paediatric and neonatology patients through various activities adapted to age at the Cruces de Bilbao Hospital.
· A total of € 1,644 was allocated to the “Here as Well” project, coordinated by Fundación Repsol and Ayuda en acción, which covers identified needs in schools located in neighbourhoods that are heavily affected by the economic crisis, inequality and poverty. This project provides healthy breakfasts at school, grants for educational material and coexistence activities for social inclusion.
· € 1,084 was allocated to the DTI (Donation Transplantation Institute), which is working on a training programme for health professionals and to raise social awareness of organ donation and transplantation, in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago National Organ Transplant Unit (NOTU).
